Podcast not updating
So what about that second item on the list, artwork. So let’s roll that beautiful footage: Why the emphasis on the third item on the list?
The reason for the emphasis is that i Tunes doesn’t actually list this one in their specifications.
I published my episode yesterday, why isn’t it in i Tunes?
i Tunes takes at least 24 hours to update its main listing with any new updates to your podcast.
Instead, they “pull” any updates from the individual RSS feeds every 24 hours.
What Buzzsprout does do for you: Buzzsprout immediately updates your RSS feed with any new episodes as soon as you publish them in the software and provides everything i Tunes needs to update their listings as soon as they make the “pull.” How long does it take for i Tunes to update my podcast listing?
Not to worry though, the delay does not affect your subscribers, as they will get the updates immediately after you publish them in Buzzsprout.
I like to check images in a feed using Firefox: Here’s the catch.
This is called validation, which simply means making sure your feed code is, well, valid.
Checking validation is easy, any one of the following sites can help you check and make sure your feed is valid: Some validators get straight into the code and are not necessarily podcast specific (W3C and Feedvalidator), others are specific to podcasts. Take your RSS feed URL and plug it into a feed validation service, and see what comes back. If a feed is invalid, you will see something like the above. Your artwork must meet specific requirements, or , you will have problems in i Tunes (in fact, if you are a new show trying to submit, i Tunes will throw an error on submission if your artwork does not meet their requirements).
This is Krystal from the Libsyn support team, and we wanted to let you know about an issue many producers are running into – and what you can do to fix it, or avoid it all together.
Note, this affects all podcast shows, not just shows hosted as Libsyn. Many of you have noticed that your show is experiencing some strange behavior inside the i Tunes store: Let’s start with the first one, feed validation.
